Manfred Pernice: "emoZone" at Fondazione Morra Greco

On view March 12 - July 4, 2026

" 'emoZone' is the first institutional exhibition in Italy by Manfred Pernice (Hildesheim, 1963). In the halls on the second floor of Palazzo Caracciolo d'Avellino, a selection of works from the Morra Greco Foundation Collection are presented together for the first time. On the third floor of the Foundation, a new site-specific project, conceived in dialogue with moments from the military architecture of Castel Sant'Elmo, extends across the entire length of the exhibition space. The installation positioned on the third floor gives the exhibition its title . Conceived as an immersive sculptural space, “ emoZone ” includes newly produced works alongside bodies of work from pre-existing series such as  meinfeld/anticorpi” (2023).

Among Pernice's trademark works, including series such as "Dosen" (cylinders), "Peilung" (orientation system), "Kasetten" (containers), and "Barrieren" (barriers), the works on display on the second floor mark several salient moments in Pernice's thirty-year artistic practice. Tracing the formal and compositional articulation of his sculptural language, landmark pieces such as "Dresdner Stollen , " 1997, and "Bianca , " 2010, are placed in dialogue with the Foundation's historically stratified spaces. Spanning more than a decade of production, other installations, such as "Restepfanne , " 2002, interact with the institutional context, playing with display strategies and altering the exhibition itinerary." - Foundazione Morra Greco
