An individual centaur figure titled Died Under the House, originally made in Balata rubber for the 2019 Wetwang Slack exhibition at The Curve, Barbican Centre, London. The work was later exhibited at Anton Kern Gallery, New York, in 2021 with a newly designed display structure: a floor-based and wall-fixed steel support tailored specifically for that installation context. The stone base and sculptural elements remain from the original Barbican iteration.
Died Under the house was one ofr the first relief centuars Upritchard made and perhaps the flatest with the most for-shortening. its very leather like skin, and its active guesture gives it the feeling of something preserved in a cave- or that you would find when crawling under a house.
